How to pass DP900 - Microsoft Azure Data Fundamentals
I passed DP 900 exam recently and I wanted to share with you a few tips and how you can pass the exam. If you’re Database administrator, Data Engineer, Data Analyst or any other roles which work with data that’s good place to start! I highly recommend this exam…
How is the exam?
To me that was not difficult exam compare with other like DP 200, For this exam there is no lab and you only need to answer to the multiple questions, true and false and drag and drop questions, basically you need to know the concepts. I only reviewed what I could in 3 weeks, something between 30 to 60 minutes daily.
My exam was 47 questions and I have 60 minutes to answer them, I think I finished the exam in 40-45 minutes, I mean the time would be enough for the exam and you do not need to be worry about that!
For me with SQL Server background almost all question related to SQL Server or relation databases were fine and during the study for this exam I mostly focused on No SQL concepts like Cosmos DB, Storage accounts, Power BI, Data Lake and so on.
I do not want to repeat what you can find on Microsoft website, before anything you need to check the Skills measured and see what you need to focus.
The core topics that you need to know are:
- Describe core data concepts
- Describe how to work with relational data on Azure
- Describe how to work with non-relational data on Azure
- Describe an analytics workload on Azure
What did I study for the exam?
I started with Microsoft learning path I think those materials give you some idea about the exam but not enough.
If you have 2 hours you I would suggest to see this video from John Savill, that’s awesome with so many points, no break no advertisement and totally free!
Then I watched this online course on Cloud Academy. That was mostly my main resource!
In last two days I tried to do the exam from measure-up that also helps me to know how the questions look like! I highly suggest you to do a few practice test before the exam day!
At the end like John Savill mentioned the exam is not win or lose game, if you do not pass it you learn from it!
Book the exam early!
One more thing from my view, like other exams I always to book my exam in first week which I decided to do that, that gives me the idea when I have to finish and when is my target! If for any unexpected reason you were not able to go for the exam you can reschedule it 24 hours prior the exam date!
